Confidentiality

Childline GibraltarConfidentiality

What does confidentiality mean?

Confidentiality means not telling anyone else about what you’ve said.  It means that you can feel safe talking about something you are worried about, or feel about something, knowing that no one else will find out.

Is Childine Confidential?

We always keep calls confidential, but if we are very worried about your safety or the safety of others, will will talk to you about whether other people need to know.  We will only take action if we feel it is an emergency and we will always talk to you about it first.

What happens if I do tell you my name?

Just because we do know your name doesn’t mean that we would tell someone else about what is happening for you, even if we know your surname.  You can feel safe to tell us as much as you want.  If you think you might like to phone us back, sometimes it can be helpful if you tell us your first name (or the name you want us to call you) so that it is easier for us to find notes about what you’ve said in your calls

Will my call to Childline be on the phone bill, and can I call free on my mobile?

Because Childline is an 8008 number, calls are free and don't show up on a Gib Tel phone bill. Calls to Childline on your Gib mobile are free too.

The telephone number will still appear in your list of dialled calls on your mobile.  If you don't want people to see the number in your list of dialled calls, you should delete this from your called number list.

Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse

Childline Gibraltar believes that any form of abuse to children whether physical, sexual, emotional or neglect continues to haunt and harm victims in adulthood and every person has the right to overcome the impact of childhood abuse and enjoy a happy and fulfilled life.

The main aim of our new service is to enable and empower adult victims of childhood abuse to access the support they need, in order to make their own personal journey of recovery and heal their emotional wounds.

If you have suffered abuse as a child, you can contact Childline for confidential assistance on our Freephone Helpline 8008 between 5 pm – 9pm or via our website www.childline.gi/need-help or by email on help@childline.gi.
